Fixing the Problem Quickly

A couple of years ago, I started an at home business. Since launching this exciting venture, I’ve enjoyed success. I love being able to get out of bed and immediately head to my home office in order to start my work day. Sometimes, I even work while wearing my pajamas. When I need to complete some work, I must have an internet connection. Whenever my connection unexpectedly goes down, I can’t communicate with clients or meet their deadlines. Thankfully, whenever I have a problem with my internet connection, I can reach the customer service department of my internet service provider quickly. They are always kind and willing to help me in whatever capacity they can. On this blog, you will discover the importance of securing an internet service provider with a helpful customer service staff.

Three Ways To Get Internet Service To Your Home

by Arttu Salmi

Are you in the process of selecting an Internet provider for your home? It will help to know the difference between these three methods to get Internet service to your home.

Cable

Cable Internet is the most widely available Internet service in the country. This is because cable Internet uses the same coax cable that is used by cable TV service. If you have access to cable television, chances are that you can get cable Internet.

While cable is a very reliable Internet service, its main limitation is the speed. Cable Internet uses bonded coax cables to transmit data to and from your home, and more priority is put on the download speeds than the upload speeds. This can cause upload speeds to be limited quite a bit compared to your download speeds, but it may be important for you to have uncapped upload speeds.

Fiber

Fiber Internet uses cables that have strands of glass or plastic inside of it that are no bigger than a single hair. This allows the data to transmit with light, which can create incredibly fast transfer speeds. The problem is that the fiber Internet infrastructure is not in all parts of the country, and may not be readily available in your area.

That said, fiber Internet is also just as reliable as cable Internet because it is transmitted through a physical cable. However, the upload speed is not going to be capped like it is with a coax cable. This allows your upload speeds to match the download speeds of the Internet package you are subscribed to, with speeds that can also be faster than cable Internet.

Satellite

Satellite Internet is a service that should be considered as a last resort. It is best for rural places that do not have a cable or fiber infrastructure, since it is the best way to get high-speed Internet to the area. While satellite Internet is available anywhere in the country where you have a clear view of the sky, it is not as reliable as cable or fiber Internet. This is because the service can be disrupted due to the weather.

One thing to keep in mind about satellite Internet is that there is more latency with the service. This can make it difficult to play online games or anything where uploading data in real-time is necessary.
